It’s nice to live in a region with distinct seasons. We may grumble when shoveling snow or when beat down by oppressive summer heat and humidity, although these variations keep us on our toes. We’re certainly less likely to get bored with our local weather fluctuations. That said, we’ve moved into an ideal season for outdoor activity and more purposeful exercise. Smartphones, streaming services, and cooler temperatures shall no longer hold us captive – let’s get out and enjoy God’s landscape. Let’s utilize our physical bodies while we benefit from the movement, fresh air, and change of scenery. There’s more to gain than calorie burn – there’s much evidence that physical activity boosts our emotional and mental well-being. It’s not just about being beach ready – there’s an opportunity to reduce stress and anxiety while increasing cognitive functioning.
